Heading west!
On October 7th I defended my Ph.D. at Lamont-Doherty. If you want to devote an hour to learning about the marine chemistry of thorium and protactinium from me, you can watch a video recording of my defense talk, courtesy of Phil Fitzpatrick and the excellent LDEO IT team. If you want to devote more than an hour to learning about the marine chemistry of thorium and protactinium from me, you can read my thesis, “Biogeochemical Studies of the South Pacific Ocean Using Thorium and Protactinium Isotopes”.
In an effort to permanently dodge frigid New York winters, in December I’ll be moving to Los Angeles to start a new position at Caltech as a Foster and Coco Stanback Postdoctoral Fellow. There will be plenty of threads to continue working on in regards to thorium and protactinium chemistry in the ocean, and lots of exciting new applications and measurements to make. I’ll also be expanding into some new research areas, including calcium carbonate dissolution, sediment and porewater geochemistry, and the biogeochemistry of redox-sensitive trace elements and their isotopes. If you’re interested in working together on any of these (or other) topics, please reach out!
